When I was younger, my father bought a shelf from Ikea. He did not believe he needed an instruction manual to put it together. If you have ever tried to do the same, I’m sure that you know where I am going.
It was NOT pretty! We spent so long attempting to match each part to pair, and it still ended up incomplete. The manual was right there, but he insisted we did not need it; We were obviously too smart for instruction manuals.
After we wasted an entire day, my father decided it was time. He swallowed his pride and referred to the manual. We finished building the shelf within the hour.
What is the point of the story?
Well imagine a similar situation. Instead of building a shelf, it is selling your home. Each little nut and bolt is a different part of the home-selling process. Now think of real estate agents and brokers as walking instruction manuals.
Selling your home as a “For Sale By Owner” (FSBO) is difficult. You also put yourself at risk of earning less than when you hire an agent. A recent study from Realtor.org states, “FSBOs typically sold for less than the selling price of agent-assisted homes; FSBO homes sold at a median of $210,000(up from $208,700 the year prior), yet lower than the median of all homes at $245,000“.
Don’t put all this pointless stress on your shoulders. Just call your local instruction manual (real estate agent). This instruction manual even offers free home evaluations!
